Working Out : The Greatest Form of Self-Care

Self-care is about calming down, being in the moment, and making yourself better in the process.

The art of self-care revolves around the idea of reaching your better self. Self-care is organic, where you focus on practice and be consistent with it. The results are guaranteed. You achieve your higher self and turn out to be more confident than ever.

There are several ways that you can achieve this state.

Things like scented candles, crystals, skincare, or healthy eating are all forms of self-care. You don’t need to spend on expensive products to try this practice. For instance, scented candles can be costly. Still, you can make your own with leftover candles and scents that you can buy from fragrance wholesale suppliers.

Self-care will help you achieve your goals as your mind will be calm and composed to focus on them. But what will you choose to practice self-care?

Here’s a suggestion: working out. Workouts are the best form of self-care you can give yourself. If your target is to reach your higher self, working out 4 times a week for at least 30 minutes will get you that. The results are inevitable. You can invest your time or money to perfect a workout routine that fits your schedule and goals.

In this article, you’ll know what makes working out the most excellent form of self-care.

Workouts Lead to Happiness and Growth

Will Smith said recently that the key to a good life is running and reading. He rightly explained that when we run, there’s a little person inside our heads who tempt us to stop. He tells you that you must stop pushing yourself as you are tired and can’t go further.

While running, you must aim to ignore that person and focus on the track. Continuously doing this makes you stronger. If you defeat that little person, you cross a threshold where you don’t easily quit.

The same goes with all forms of workouts – there’s always something tempting you to quit.

But when you’re consistently pushing yourself, you develop resistance which makes you hard to beat. This is the most outstanding achievement that workouts hands to you.

Research has proven that workouts make you feel better and happier. There’s no doubt that the core idea behind working out is pushing your body to its limits. On top of burning calories, improving your metabolism, cutting down fat, workouts do one more thing-cause pain.

This activates our brain’s hypothalamus, which is nature’s painkiller.

Your pituitary gland begins excreting endorphins. They lead to happy emotions and euphoria, similar to eating good food or enjoying the snow.

Serotonin and norepinephrine motivate your body to fight the pain. Your body actively releases these hormones during workouts and exercising. Lack of these hormones is related to depression and anxiety.

Due to releasing so many calming hormones, intense exercises like running or high-intensity interval training (HIIT) can be addictive. It works just like some narcotics, without the negative impact and health risk. With the same feelings of joy, it provides opposite results, making you crave more.

Easy Exercises You Can Try to Take Care of Your Body

Jumping Jacks

Jumping jacks is the most basic exercise everyone has been doing since school. It works the whole body as you jump and move your feet and arms simultaneously. Jumping jacks are generally done at the beginning of a workout as they ramp up your heartbeat and prepare you for more intensity ahead. You can move your hands and legs without jumping for an easier version.

Leg Raises

Leg raises come in different variations:

Plank

Planking is quite easy to do, but it just can also be the toughest thing to do, especially as a beginner. All you have to do is lie with your stomach facing downward while putting all your weight on your elbows. Your elbows must be 90 degrees to your shoulders.

Hold this position as long as you can. When you’re starting, aim for 30 seconds, then increase the time. You can also do this in sets with 1 minute each.

All these exercises give you a boost of serotonin while toning your body.

It’s a win-win deal. Workouts are the best form of self-care. Combine this with clean foods like smoothies and unprocessed food items, and you’ll see your health improving. Working out will help you reach your higher self if you stick with it consistently.
