4 Little Victories: Ways To Feel Better in Your Home

Some people feel that if they want to feel better at home, they need to make some home repairs and push themselves to the limit of upgrading everything.

But the reality is that if you want to be happy at home, there are a number of things you can do without going overboard. There are a few upgrades that can help, but in the long run there are a number of different ways to improve your frame of mind.

Invest in Experiences at Home

If you want to feel better at home, you’ve got to spend money on things that will cultivate better experiences. It could be a new grill for barbecues, or it could be new windows. Renewal by Andersen windows are one of many luxury style windows that can give you a better looking home, but also are a great way to bring more sunlight into the home.

If you live in a very dark property, it’s so important to bring more Vitamin D into your life, and open those windows! When you start to invest in more experiences at home, you begin to associate the home with your happy place.

Don’t Avoid It- Get Into It!

There are things in your home that need doing. The dishes are not going to do themselves, so you can spend more time avoiding it, or getting into it! By “getting into it,” we mean making it a pleasurable experience.

You can make washing the dishes something far better than just a boring task. Put music on in the background, listen to a podcast, do anything that makes washing the dishes a far more pleasurable experience.

Display Sentimental Items Around the Home

Items that remind you of the past, or the pleasurable experiences in life need to have pride of place in your property. We may think that material items will bring a small joy, but experiences make us happier. This is because an experience isn’t just a fleeting moment.

But something like a vacation requires planning and preparation, the things you did while on vacation, and of course, all of the memories you made. So when you start decorating your home with maps of those areas you’ve been to, photographs that mean a lot, and mementos, you are reliving those happy memories every time you walk past them.

Do Not Keep Clutter

It’s one of the quickest ways to feel stressed. You may have a method to your madness, but if you have a lot of clutter around the property, you’ve got to make some order. It doesn’t have to take a long time. One of the best little routines you can incorporate every single day is to spend three minutes bringing your room back to “ready” before you leave it.

There are other little things you can do around the home that you can bring into your everyday life, such as starting a journal, setting an intention for the day, and even if you cannot do any of these things, the best piece of advice is to make your bed. Making your bed is one little victory and it sets you up for the rest of the day.
