Fun In The Sun: Perfect Summer Entertainment

Fun in the sun is what summer is all about.

Make memories with loved ones and soak up those glorious long, warm days. And what better way to do that than get out into the garden? Here’s how you can make your yard a little hub of summer entertainment.

Prepare Your Garden

If you love entertaining in the summer then it makes sense to invest in your garden. A nice patio area with furniture where you can sit with loved ones; perhaps a patio canopy installation to protect you from the heat of the sun, pots of flowers and beautiful flower beds and decorations like solar lights. At the very least, remove any rubbish and put things like bikes and tools away in the shed or garage.

Give the lawn a cut, it will provide much nicer surroundings when you have people over. If your parties often run into the evening, it’s a good idea to invest in some lighting. Not a security light that will keep going on and off- something you can switch on and illuminate the garden while you watch the sun go down and enjoy food and cocktails.

Save Money On Food

When you’re hosting a party, the costs can really add up and food can be expensive. However, there are lots of ways to have an incredible time without breaking the bank. If you’re throwing a barbeque, marinate your own meat instead of buying pre-packaged packs. Big bags of chicken portions for example are really cheap and can be defrosted in the fridge overnight with herbs and spices of your choice.

Plain meat will always cost less, and marinade mixes are also cheap so it’s no hassle to just coat them yourself. Big batches of things like pasta salad, cold rice dishes and baked potatoes all make fantastic side dishes and fill people up without spending much at all.

Keep The Drinks Flowing

Asking guests to bring a bottle when you throw a party is one of the best ways to keep costs down, they won’t mind at all since it’s common practice and can save you hundreds when entertaining. For summer fun, how about mixing together some of the spirits people have brought with some juice, ice and fruit slices and making a big cocktail you can all share?

Large drinks dispenser jars are great and means everyone can help themselves to the pre mixed drink without messing around. This is great for making sure people don’t get too drunk too, we all know how easy it is for the drink measures to be a little generous after we’ve had one or two! But this way it’s all mixed ahead.

Think About Entertainment

If you want to bring a little something extra to your party then how about some entertainment? A bouncy castle for the kids, a DIY photobooth or some giant lawn games like Jenga and Connect 4 will always go down a treat. Perfect summer entertainment for getting people mixing and generating some laughs!

What do you think are the most important things to remember when entertaining over the summer? Do you have any garden parties planned?
