The Type Of Home You’d Like To Call Your Own

From town houses and apartments, to bungalows and lodges, there are many different types of property out in the world.

Each of the options you have will offer its own features and benefits. Some are more practical while others have more curb appeal. This makes it important to choose once which will work well with your lifestyle. Let’s explore some of the different type of home on the market, along with their most prominent features. This should make it nice and easy to get started on hunting down the perfect option for you.

Apartments

Let’s start with possibly the most common housing type found in modern cities: apartments. These self-contained homes are usually fairly small. They will only cover a single floor and will be designed with cost saving in mind. The idea for this sort of property originally formed when investors wanted to get more out of their large town houses. And of course, a lot of these buildings are split up into multiple dwellings. Nowadays, though, they come in all shapes and sizes, from small units above retail stores to large examples which form a single part of a very large tower.

Studios

A lot of people don’t realize that you can find properties which work out to be smaller than most apartments. A studio is designed for those who can’t afford anything else. They often only consist of a couple of rooms: a bathroom and bedroom/kitchen. For this reason, they don’t work very well for families or professional couples. Usually these are reserved for those who have no other choice. Of course, this doesn’t mean that they can’t be nice places! Plenty of landlords treat their studios very well.

Penthouses

In simple terms, a penthouse is simply the apartment at the very top of the block which it calls home. These options are usually far more than just a regular place, with most offering high-end and luxury features which make the places below look boring. You will often find that these apartments are swept up by the rich and famous. Unfortunately, as they are rare compared to other property options, they will always demand a high price. Most normal people won’t be able to afford to enjoy the side of life they have to offer.

Bungalows

Moving back into the realms of reality… Let’s think about regular homes, and the different types which are available. Bungalows are very common around the world. Their lack of stairs make them cheaper to build than their larger cousins. This sort of property is often favored by those with disabilities or in the later years of their life, as they present far fewer physical challenges, and will be much easier to live with. In places which have very high land values, bungalows can be the most expensive options around, as they tend to have a very large footprint.

Cottages

While it doesn’t define a style in terms of size or shape, it’s very easy to tell when you’re inside a cottage. These places are usually fair small and cozy, but will have enough room for a young family to get started in. This makes them great for those in this position. Along with this, though, they don’t tend to be very modern. Instead, they will come from a simpler time. Such as when building wasn’t such a strict science, and the methods used weren’t as robust as they are today. This can make them very expensive to keep in good shape. A lot of cottage owners struggle to enjoy the beauty of the place when they are having to invest so heavily in it.

Houses

At this point in this post, you’d probably think that normal houses should have already come up. But these types of property are becoming surprisingly rare in the modern world. While they provide space and convenience, they also cost a lot to build and won’t provide the same amount of profit as something like apartments. Of course, though, this doesn’t mean that you can’t find properties for sale in this category. You will only need to do some research to get your hands on something perfect for you. As time goes on, it could get harder to find homes like this, making it worth moving early if you want to secure it.

Villas

Originally villas were a Roman invention, with places like this being reserved for the rich and powerful. These often lavish homes would come with their own staff, have their own vineyards and gardens, and, most importantly, would be designed for the whole family. A little has changed since those days, with more accessible options hitting the market. If you can accept missing out on having a team of employees looking after you, it should be nice and easy to find somewhere like this. Of course, most people will look overseas when they want a villa.

Mansions

Unfortunately, mansions will be far out of most people’s price ranges. Though it is still worth covering them to give you something to reach for, going into the future. Most real estate agents classify any home which is over 8,000 square feet as a mansion. Traditionally, though, features like swimming pools, bars, and sports pitches have all been commonly found on properties like this. Designed for a more extravagant way of living, places like this will often have no expenses spared. They create breathtaking homes which most normal people can only dream about living inside.

Manors

For those looking for even greater exclusivity than a mansion, manor houses are on the top of a lot of wealthy people’s lists when they are looking at property. These places are usually characterized by their age. This makes it impossible to find a new manor, and they would often be used as stately homes. Falling into private ownership at some point in history, manors are rarely found on modern markets. This further aids to their limited nature. But if you research hard enough, you may be able to find one that falls into your price range.

There are loads of different types of property available on the modern world. Each of the options you have before you will offer something unique. To take full advantage of this, you have to invest the time into researching the buildings you could call home. Because honestly, it will be hard to find someone who can help you out. If you need extra support, talking to an estate agent can be a good idea. However, they will often make the whole process cost more if you decide to go with them from the beginning to the end. This is something which you will have to decide for yourself, though.

With all of this in mind, you should be feeling ready to find a home which matches your needs. Following on from this, you will have a little more to think about, most surrounding the other features which the properties you have on offer will provide. If you have a young family, being near a school and having space will be more important than luxury. Setting out your priorities before getting started can make this whole process easier. Especially for those who have never gone through the process of buying a home before.
