How To Smarten Your Home This Winter

At this time of year, we’re all looking ahead to spring.

And it makes you want to get your life in order a little more. One of the best ways to do that is to get your home in order. Having a more organized and decorated home no doubt will make you feel more comfortable throughout the year. The idea of working on the entire house can feel daunting, but here are a few simple ways to smarten your home this winter.

Living Room

It’s the base of the home. It’s where people usually spend most of their time, and it tends to represent their personality. That said, why not keep it as presentable as you can? It’s nice to keep everything dusted and swept, but if that’s not enough for you, there’s no harm in moving furniture and appliances around – it could open up space for more stuff as well as clearing your mind.

Kitchen

When it comes to the kitchen, you’re have probably accumulated a lot of stuff over the years which may need clear out. This tends to be unnecessary things like old cookbooks, tins and cookware that are stored away in the cupboards. Decluttering will free up lots of space to arrange everything. As well as organising your kitchen, keeping everything clean and sanitary with not only keep everything healthy but will add to the fresh, smartened appearance.

Bathroom

It kind of goes without saying that we all like to have an upstanding, hygienic bathroom. After all, a cleaner environment would probably ensure a cleaner person. That said, if you’re starting to notice after many years that you’re bath or shower is looking a bit worse for wears, you may want to invest in a bathroom fitter before things get too unpleasant.

Garden

It always feels nice to have a clean, fresh, garden outside the front and/or back of the house. If you’re not in the mood, it can feel like a huge chore, but it’s very rewarding to many. It doesn’t have to always be a huge chore, a ten-minute sweep every now and again could make a big difference to the look of things.

Sorting out the grass or cutting down bushes and trees are, of course, way more tasking, and you may want to a professional gardener or contact a tree service to help. But you could also give it a go yourself as it’s always satisfying picking up new skills!

Basement

Finally, the basement. A lot of people tend to use this place for storage. They’ll usually keep old stuff down there, some of which are genuine necessities, sure, but you’d be surprised at how much clutter there is down in a basement that has just been forgotten about.

They’ll have some old pieces of equipment or paraphernalia that they stored and completely forgot about years later. Why not get some exercise clearing the unwanted litter away and create a spacey room that activities can be enjoyed in. A home theatre or a small gym?
