Simple Interior Design Tricks You Should Know

The New Year is officially underway.

A lot of us have already put the decorations back in the loft until next December, and your home may be looking a little bit bare and dull. This is always the ideal time of the year to take a look at redecorating the space and bringing some life back into it, and we have some simple tips and tricks for interior decorating which you can try in your home this week.

Trick #1: Less is more

When it comes to interior design there is one cardinal rule: Less is more. For example if you have a set of shelves which you want to fill with ornaments, it is always better to place three rather than five. Keeping space in the home by adding less items will always be better because it brings a sense of openness to the room. If you have too many things in your home it will only serve to clutter up the space and this is never a good idea design wise.

Trick #2: Bigger can be better

Even if you have a small home, sometimes the answer you need to your interior design woes is to actually choose larger pieces. If you fancy going for a modern and contemporary design in your home, you can really make a difference by choosing a few large pieces of art and mirrors in your home rather than lots of small ones. This is the same concept as the last point, however it is also because big features draw the eye and give the illusion of a larger living space.

Trick #3: Elegant touches are everything

If you really want your home to stand out from the rest you can take a leaf from rental properties like Glamour Apartments and bring in some luxury features. In your main living space, a large chandelier brings a touch of grandeur. An arga in the kitchen can be the ideal focal point for the room, and a jacuzzi bathtub can be a little piece of heaven in the bathroom. Don’t be afraid to treat yourself and bring in some expensive elements because they can make all the difference to the atmosphere of your home.

Trick #4: Use texture, not color

When we look at decorating a room most of us immediately dive into color schemes without even considering a neutral space. Creating a room which is all neutral colors such as white, grey and black might seem boring, but it makes life much easier in the future when you want to decorate and change things up again.

You can also different tones of grey and build up textures such as a fur carpet, a leather sofa, and then a large wool cushion layered up to add depth to your design. You can then add finishing touches like soft furnishings and art in your favorite colors and when it comes time to redecorate once more, you can simply change the art and soft furnishings and leave the rest as it is!

Trick #5: Natural light is key

If you take anything from our list and input it into your life, the best thing you can do for the Home is bring in natural light. Natural light can be Male or break with your home and if you don’t have enough, your space can look dingy and dark. Make sure to keep your windows unobstructed as much as you can, think about installing bigger windows and more of them around the house, and even consider a skylight or two for that extra flair.
