Lighting Hacks Everyone Needs At Home

If you are looking for some new ways to light up your home this year, there are a lot of unique things you can try.

When we have a small home or one that mainly faces away from the sun it can feel impossible to get enough light into the space. But there are plenty of small ways you can add more light into your home. Let’s take a look at some of them.

#1: Light Your Closet

If you feel you can never see your clothes when looking through the closet, opt for Under Cabinet Lighting or some string LED lights to hang inside the space. You can buy battery powered lights or even motion-sensing ones which trigger whenever you open up the door. This can be a useful tool to have in the home and saves you having to squint to see what you need from the space.

#2: Dimmer Switches

If you only have one main light in your living room and you want to settle down in the evening and watch a movie, the bright fluorescent light can be pretty distracting. It certainly doesn’t set the tone for a cozy evening. A solution is to get yourself a dimmer switch. This allows you to turn down the lights to a more comfortable setting in the evenings.

#3: Get A Bedside Lamp

Finding your way to the bed in the pitch black can be a struggle sometimes. It can be pretty annoying, especially when you stub your toe on the way! Getting yourself a small bedside lamp for your table – even a lamp hung on the wall can make a huge difference and make your life much easier in the evenings when you are trying to fall asleep.

#4: Light Up Your Vanity

If you live in a place where you can’t apply makeup near the window, the next best option is to get yourself a 60 watt light for your vanity. Buy yourself a light up mirror to help you with that perfect makeup application. Getting your makeup right can be difficult if you don’t have enough light because it can end up looking blotchy, so lighting up your makeup area can make your application much easier.

#5: Make A Magical Garden

If you have a seating area in the garden where you love to spend time in during the evenings, one of the things you can do is buy some solar lights. Place these around the garden for a software magical atmosphere when the sun sets. For example, you could place solar lamps in your plant beds, hang solar powered fairy lights on the back of your home, or even look into getting a chiminea (aka a fire pit) to add warmth to the space. There are plenty of amazing outdoor lights you can buy online to make the most of the space.

#6: Candles

If you hate having full light in your home during the evenings, a great solution is to bring some large candles and tealights into the space. It will provide you with a lovely atmosphere for the evenings as well as help everyone in the house to de-stress after a long day. Candles offer a soft, warm light and also bring heat into the home so this is an extra benefit to think about.

#7: DIY It

If you have some old mason jars hanging around the house, why not make your own light fixtures for the house? It can be a fun craft for you to do at the weekend and it means that you will have a completely unique light fitting in your home. There are tons of tutorials online for DIY light fixtures so take a look for inspiration this weekend!

#8: Use Mirrors

One of the best ways that you can light up your home is to use mirrors to bring natural light into the whole home. You can place mirrors around different areas of your home to help bounce light and reflect it into your rooms. If you have a small or dark home this can be the best way for you to make the place feel more spacious and bright. It will give the illusion of a lighter, brighter space without you even having to bring any light into it!
